Hon Paul Goldsmith: I have not received specific advice on the use of end-to-end encryption to commit violent or sexual offences. I received advice in December 2023 as incoming Minister, introducing me to the area of investigatory tools for law enforcement agencies and the challenges agencies are facing with the rate of technological change. The issue of end-to-end encryption was addressed within this briefing.
