77020 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What guidance, if any, does Oranga Tamariki provide to the organisations employing mentors who are supporting the participants on the pilot Military-Style Academy regarding the required qualifications of those mentors?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that Oranga Tamariki, as part of its procurement process, specified the competencies required by the intensive mentors. This included relevant skills, knowledge and attitudes, which could be demonstrated in part by holding a relevant and recognised youth work qualification, or by demonstrating their depth of experience in working with young people.
