Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that the Bail and Remand Homes Lead is a role within the Family and Community Homes team and is responsible for: • Ensuring consistency of service delivery and safe operation across the Bail and Remand Homes in Oranga Tamariki by encouraging continuous improvement, ensuring adherence to practice guidelines, and developing organisational policy and procedure. • Overseeing the operations and logistics of our Bail and Remand Homes. • Co-ordinating the relevant Social Services Providers ensuring Bail and Remand homes provide a welcoming and safe space for rangatahi when they cannot be bailed to their current home address. • Ensuring the effective operations of Bail and Remand Homes ensuring the provision of tailored support to rangatahi and tamariki housed in their care. • Collaborating closely with the Managers across the Bail and Remand Homes to ensure rangatahi care is consistent with Care principles and legislative requirements. • Ensure compliance with incident management, reporting and escalation requirements and the organisational obligations under mandatory reporting, child protection and safeguarding. • Overseeing relationships with appropriate contractors and suppliers that support the maintenance and upkeep of the Bail and Remand Homes. I am further advised that there is no set percentage for this role that is youth justice specific. This position is focused on our Community, Family, Bail and Remand Homes, however, may support youth justice depending on the operational needs and focus at the time for the Youth Justice Services and Residential Care group.
