77004 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 72596 (2024) what youth justice tasks and duties, if any, is the listed new Oranga Tamariki Chief Advisor - Office of the Deputy Chief Executive role required to undertake, and what percentage of the role is youth-justice specific?
Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that the Chief Advisor supports the work of the Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) by providing direct and high-level strategic advice, insights and performance thought leadership across the group. This includes:
• Leadership of complex and strategic projects.
• Providing timely quality assurance and second-opinion advice.
• Developing and maintaining external networks of significance to Oranga Tamariki.
• Oversight of staff mentoring and capacity development across the group.
• Key connector with the Office of the Chief Executive.
The Chief Advisor provides insight and advice on a range of matters, facilitates effective solutions to urgent or ongoing issues, implements recommendations agreed by the DCE and maintains effective working relationships with leadership and key stakeholders across the Ministry.
I am further advised that there is no set percentage for this role that is youth justice specific. It is dependent on the operational needs and focus at the time for the Youth Justice Services and Residential Care group.
