76994 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education

76994 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: What level of support did Ōtautahi communities express for the new charter school due to open in Term 1 2025; and how was this determined?
Hon David Seymour: I am advised by the Charter School Agency that demonstration of the consultation undertaken with the community, and the level of community support, are requirements of the charter school application process. All sponsors who applied and have been approved to operate new charter schools were considered by the Authorisation Board to have undertaken a satisfactory level of consultation. For converting schools, the Authorisation Board must consult the school board, school community, school staff, and students with regard to performance, support for the conversion and support for the sponsor. No converting schools have yet been approved. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 76995, 76998, 76999 and 77001 (2024).
