76529 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What, if any, activities does Oranga Tamariki have underway to make progress on the priority of providing a high level response to children who need it the most, and what, if any, is the budget allocated to these listed by activity?

Hon Karen Chhour: Since becoming Minister for Children, I have been clear that Oranga Tamariki needs to focus on its core responsibilities of delivering high quality services to those children who need it most. This is why I introduced key performance measures, to be publicly reported on quarterly, about the safety of children, supporting caregivers, addressing youth offending and improving complaint management and practices. As this is the core business for Oranga Tamariki, I am advised it is not possible to separate the budget for this from overall Oranga Tamariki appropriation.
