75828 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the quarter July to September 2024 to explore regulatory changes for midwifery to address workforce shortages?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that Health New Zealand is part of the Midwifery Council's expert advisory group, which is exploring options to shift the pre-registration standards to remove barriers for entry into undergraduate programmes. I am further advised that this work is ongoing.
