75814 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the quarter July to September 2024 to implement Pacific health science academies nation wide?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the July to September quarter, tertiary providers contracted to deliver the Pacific Health Science Academies programme in Te Manawa Taki, Central, and Te Waipounamu regions commenced engagement with secondary schools that have high Pacific student enrolment. I am further advised that during the quarter, the Pacific Health Science Academies in Auckland ran Leadership Days which included guest speakers from a variety of Pacific professional groups. Hospital visits were also arranged for Pacific Health Science Academies students to gain on-site experience; this initiative was extended to include all three district hospitals in Auckland during this quarter.
