75812 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the quarter July to September 2024 to strengthen undergraduate support for Pacific learners into health careers?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the July to September 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand continued to support students in nursing, midwifery, medicine, allied health, and other health programmes across New Zealand. Nurses in cohort 1 of the Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Pacific) – a programme designed to support Pacific-trained nurses to gain New Zealand Registration through an expedited pathway – were on track to complete the programme. Cohort 2 of the programme commenced during this quarter. Work on the 2025 Pacific Health Scholarship round also progressed during this quarter.
