75792 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter July to September 2024 toward implementing the recommendation ‘Explore ways for struggling providers to access existing Pacific cultural supports. Pacific cultural support is available but not uniformly distributed or widely known about nationwide. Improve methods to facilitate access to cultural knowledge need to be developed’ under ‘Recommendations for HealthCERT’ in the ‘Ngā Paerewa Implementation Evaluation’ independent report?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that no progress was made on this recommendation in the quarter July and September 2024. Sector guidance has previously been reviewed by the Ministry of Health Pacific Health team.
I am further advised that HealthCERT needs to balance the support it can provide, with its ‘arms-length’ regulator role and it is not within HealthCERT’s remit to support providers to access cultural support. However, where HealthCERT are made aware of support available, they will disseminate the information via their bulletin.
