Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter July to September 2024 on the proposed action ‘scope priority projects to reduce occupied bed days in the Districts with the greatest opportunities for improvement’ under ‘Strategic Priority Area 5: Driving operational improvement’ within Te Whatu Ora’s ‘Acute Care Plan 2024’?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the July to September 2024 quarter, the complex care escalation plan was implemented in all districts and work began on delayed discharge/transfer of care policy and criteria led discharge. This new policy will enable a consistent definition of delayed discharge, and help identify patients occupying a hospital bed who could receive care in another setting.
