75735 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What, if any, actions has Oranga Tamariki undertaken to respond to its 2023 Archives audit findings?

Hon Karen Chhour: Oranga Tamariki has developed an Action Plan to address the nine recommendations contained in the Public Records Act 2005 Audit Report released in December 2023. The Action Plan includes three actions relating to the development of an agency disposal authority which will also include identifying information that is of importance to Māori and information of high risk and high importance. The remaining six actions relate to operationalising the Oranga Tamariki Information Management Policy as follows: - access permissions (already part of Oranga Tamariki business processes) - future planning to resource information management functions - assigning responsibilities with work to update and communicate and monitor supporting guidance and processes - including recordkeeping responsibilities in Outsourcing Contracts.
