75693 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister for State Owned Enterprises: Has the Minister delegated the New Zealand Post portfolio to the Hon Chris Bishop?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: As the Minister for State Owned Enterprises, I am a shareholder in New Zealand Post, along with the Minister of Finance. As the Minister for Media and Communications, I am responsible for policy and other decisions that impact the postal services market. To avoid a perceived conflict between these two responsibilities, I transferred my responsibilities as a shareholder in New Zealand Post to Hon Chris Bishop. The transfer was made under section 7 of the Constitution Act 1986 and with the Prime Minister's agreement. The transfer continues in effect until revoked. The transfer was notified to Minister Bishop in writing. I note the same arrangement was put in place in 2021 when Hon Dr David Clark was the Minister for State Owned Enterprises and the Minister for the Digital Economy and Communications.
