75518 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister of Conservation: What are the names of the five commercial fishing operators that will be allowed to continue to operate in the Hauraki Gulf as a result of recent changes he is proposing to the Hauraki Gulf / Tīkapa Moana Marine Protection Bill?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Hauraki Gulf / Tīkapa Moana Marine Protection Bill remains before the House, as such it would be pre-emptive to identify any fishers who may be permitted to continue to operate within the ring-net boundaries. In addition, there are privacy rights to be considered. Therefore, in accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 199/6, I consider that providing a detailed response to the member’s question is not in the public interest at this time.
