75505 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What guidance, if any, has the Minister's departments, if any, given staff regarding attendance at Hikoi mō te Tiriti on 19 November 2024?

Hon Brooke van Velden: Following guidance from the Public Service Commission, I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) that staff wanting to attend the Hīkoi mō te Tiriti (the Hīkoi) on 19 November 2024 were able to do so during their own time, such as on their lunch break. Staff are entitled to their own political views outside of work, including taking part in lawful demonstrations, as long as their views are not associated with the Department.
