75429 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Economic Development: What guidance, if any, has the Minister's departments, if any, given staff regarding attendance at Hikoi mō te Tiriti on 19 November 2024?

Hon Melissa Lee: I am advised that MBIE referred its people to guidance from Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission on political neutrality and personal political activity. The guidance reminded them that as public servants, if they wished to attend the Hīkoi it needed to be in their own time; outside work hours or using annual leave. I am also advised that the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, in the first instance, advised kaimahi to follow NZTA and Police guidance when planning their travel in and out of Wellington region, as Hīkoi Mō Te Tiriti arrived, and to contact their people leader for any questions.
