75413 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Which team within the Department of Internal Affairs will be responsible for administrating online casino operators, and what additional resources will this team receive, if any?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised that the Regulatory Services Group within the Department of Internal Affairs will be responsible for administering the online casino gambling regulatory system. A repayable capital injection of $20 million has been approved by Cabinet to fund the implementation of the regulatory system and the first year of administration. Ongoing costs of the regulatory system will be cost recovered from gambling operators, as is the case with all other parts of the gambling system.
