75401 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Conservation: What guidance, if any, has the Minister's departments, if any, given staff regarding attendance at Hikoi mō te Tiriti on 19 November 2024?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised that guidance was given to staff via internal intranet notices. The notices advised staff on the need for political neutrality and noted that policy does not prevent public servants from attending protests. Staff were advised that if they were planning to attend the hikoi, it was to be in their own time and to avoid wearing Department of Conservation branded apparel and or identification. Guidance was also provided on building security and access matters as the hikoi passed by the main entrance for the Department’s Wellington building.
