75332 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister for State Owned Enterprises: What is the estimated remaining lifespan, if any, of the above/underground electrification infrastructure between Hamilton and Palmerston North?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: The electrified network infrastructure between Hamilton and Palmerston North was installed in the late-1980s, so the infrastructure is relatively new. I am advised KiwiRail upgraded the substations in recent years, and the concrete poles have long-lives with no immediate or medium-term requirement for renewal. In addition, I am advised the overhead lines are upgraded as needed, as they are in Auckland and Wellington.
