74526 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Associate Minister of Health: Further to Reply 62348, what is the correct $ of underfunding if it is not $15, is it more or less than that and what is the correct figure?

Hon Casey Costello: Aged care funding is negotiated each year between Health New Zealand and provider representatives. That negotiation includes funding for Southland providers. I have not been advised of a specific funding amount needed by Southland providers. Negotiations for 2025/26 will be conducted in the first half of 2025. As in past years, during this process, Health NZ may receive information from the sector on how much funding it believes is required to continue delivering high quality aged residential care services.
