Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 in actioning the recommendation ‘Expand the centralised authorisation of vaccinators to include all vaccinators (currently only provisional vaccinators and COVID-19 Vaccinators Working Under Supervision are authorised nationally)’ under ‘Priority Area 2: Authorisation of childhood vaccinators’ within the ‘Initial Priorities for the National Immunisation Programme in Aotearoa 2022’?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, the Vaccinator Authorisation Portal was available to pharmacist vaccinators transitioning to being authorised whole-of-life vaccinators. This also removed the need for a prescription or standing order for the vaccinator to practice prior to being clinically assessed for the administration of vaccines to those younger than two years of age.
