74168 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 in actioning the recommendation ‘Invest in digital solutions, such as a catch-up “calculator”, for use by immunisation providers to ensure all age-appropriate required vaccines are given in the most efficient way’ under ‘Priority Area 6: Catch-up immunisations’ within the ‘Initial Priorities for the National Immunisation Programme in Aotearoa 2022’?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, a high-level assessment was undertaken to understand what additional functionality would be required for the Aotearoa Immunisation Register (AIR) to be able to support the development of a catch-up calculator. It was concluded that the complexity and cost of developing a catch-up calculator within AIR meant it would be better to focus on enabling third parties to do this using AIR data. This work has commenced with one Application Programming Interface (API) already in place and additional APIs due to be rolled-out iteratively throughout FY 24/25.
