74008 (2024). Kahurangi Carter to the Minister for Children: What, if any, support is provided to past Epuni residents who are whānau of current residents, to ensure they feel safe and supported to visit, and the effects of intergenerational trauma are minimised?
Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that one of the core elements of the Oranga Tamariki practice approach is the significance of history – through which underlying and intergenerational trauma and resilience can be understood. I am further advised that if family members raise specific concerns with staff, they can discuss the best way to facilitate appropriate and suitable arrangements, to ensure regular, safe and quality contact.
