73926 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: How many gang members or gang associates have been arrested since September 2024 to date, broken down by month?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that between 1 September and 31 October 2024 there were 921 National Gang List validated patched or prospect gang members recorded in police custody records. This consists of 522 September and 502 in October, noting that some individuals may have been in custody in each month, or multiple times within a month. These exclude custodies on behalf of other agencies, but may include custodies in relation to an alleged offence as well as those where people are taken into Police custody for care and protection. Please note that gang information is snapshot data, and some of these individuals may not have been gang members at the time of custody, and conversely, there may have been people who were gang members at the time of custody but are no longer recorded as gang members. Data in this response is drawn from a dynamic operational database and is subject to change as new information is recorded or updated.
