73920 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: What is the average 50th percentile response time broken down by region and month since September 2024 to date?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I refer the Member to the attached table, which shows the 50th and 90th percentile response times to emergency events by rural/urban policing areas and police district for the month of September and October 2024. Response times are dynamic and are affected by a range of factors such as the number of staff available, population density, and types of calls for service, the event’s distance from an available unit, as well as other events and seasonal factors (including access issues during flooding events). Police will always prioritise and attend the jobs where people’s lives or safety is in danger. Policing by its very nature requires constant prioritisation of resources to respond to emergency demand, which is unpredictable and has peaks and troughs. This is also my response to Written Parliamentary Question 73921 (2024).
