Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has occurred to address the recommendation that “a dedicated programme of confidential professional supervision be developed”, as contained in the report on Te Whatu Ora Mid Central’s workplace culture prepared by Jonathan Black, as at 12 November 2024?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that a framework for promoting professional supervision with possible supervisors is being developed. A number of MidCentral clinicians have elected to pursue professional supervision as part of their continued medical education, with this being promoted further into the New Year. I am further advised that Health New Zealand's Clinical Lead for Employee Wellbeing has had an initial meeting with a group of medical and surgical clinical leads to talk about organisational wellbeing, and has offered specific one-on-one and drop-in sessions. In addition, RMOs and SMOs are included in general health and wellbeing activities offered to all staff (e.g., the Health Roundtable Wellbeing app).
