73725 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Customs: How many roles, if any, did the Minister's departments, if any, lose from 1 November 2022 to 1 November 2023, and how many of these roles, if any, were in the Otago region?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that for the period 1 November 2022 to 1 November 2023 (inclusive), 104 roles were disestablished within the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs). These disestablished roles included temporary roles that were established and funded by the Maritime Border Order and Pre-Departure Testing. There were seven Customs roles disestablished in the Otago Region. All seven roles were temporary Maritime Border Order funded roles. The decisions on the disestablishment of these roles is the responsibility of the Comptroller of Customs.
