73648 (2024). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Rural Communities: What specific steps, if any, is the Minister taking to ensure rural communities retain adequate postal service access under the proposed NZ Post cutbacks?

Hon Mark Patterson: I have written to Hon Paul Goldsmith, the Minister for Media and Communications about the postal review. I continue to meet with representative groups, such as Rural Women New Zealand, and people in the communities to hear their concerns about all policies, including proposals relating to postal services. I am advised public consultation is open until 10 December 2024. I have directed my officials, and I have advocated for people in rural communities, to engage in this process with the Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment.
