73565 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister of Conservation: Has the Department of Conservation reduced active protection of kauri since February 2024?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation continues to actively protect kauri as a priority programme. The Department reduced funding for its plant pathogens programme (includes kauri protection activity) by $400,000 in the 2024/25 financial year to achieve budget savings targets. The budget reduced from $3.2 million in 2023/24 to $2.8 million in 2024/45.
