73557 (2024). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: How many people have been declined emergency housing since he changed the entry criteria?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that as part of the new Emergency Housing Grant changes that went live on 26 August, the Ministry has provided further guidance to front line staff to ensure their decisions to decline an application are consistent with the policy intent. The Ministry is continuing to provide support and oversight to frontline staff following implementation of this change to ensure consistency of practice. I am advised that the Ministry are confident that staff are implementing the policy as intended. I refer the member to the attached table which provides the number of Emergency Housing Grants declined during 1 August 2024 to 31 October 2024 by month.
