72880 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 in achieving the individual measure ‘100% of hapū māmā be informed of antenatal immunisations in the third trimester’ within the ‘Initial Priorities for the National Immunisation Programme in Aotearoa 2022’?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the January to March 2024 quarter, work was underway to prepare for the 2024 influenza campaign, which included a new toolkit for the sector with clinical and operational guidance. In addition, preparation was also underway for the antenatal flu hui in early April to support the sector and ensure they were offering flu vaccine to all pregnant women. I am further advised that Hauora Māori providers contracted under the Immunising our Tamariki programme engaged with hapū māmā, in line with the whole-of-whānau approach. This includes informing hapū māmā of options for antenatal vaccinations, and offering these vaccinations if, for example, they engage with a provider for scheduled immunisation for an older child.
