72646 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: How many health and safety incidents, if any, occurred in the Minister's departments, if any, from 1 November 2023 to 1 November 2024?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that, from 1 November 2023 to 1 November 2024, there were 379 staff work-related incidents, including near-misses. In addition, there were 987 Property and School Transport third party contractor incidents, including near misses. I am advised by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority that there were 20 health and safety related incidents, including near-misses, reported during the same period. I am advised by the Education Review Office that there were 12 health and safety incidents, including near-misses, reported for the same period. The increase of incidents reported from the previous year is a result of efforts to remind staff of the importance of reporting and encouraging them to do so.
