72599 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Tertiary Education and Skills: How many health and safety incidents, if any, occurred in the Minister's departments, if any, from 1 November 2023 to 1 November 2024?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised by the Tertiary Education Commission between 1 November 2023, and 1 November 2024, the TEC had 9 health and safety incidents reported. These included 3 near misses and 6 cases of pain and discomfort resolved through a workstation assessment. I am advised that, from 1 November 2023 to 1 November 2024, Education New Zealand recorded 14 health and safety incidents, including near misses.
