72587 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Prime Minister: Did the Prime Minister or anyone in his office write to, or otherwise contact the Speaker in respect of the attendance of Aaron Smale at the official Crown apology at Parliament; if so when and why?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: On November 7 my office discussed Mr Smale’s actions at two previous Government events with Mark Jennings of Newsroom. Later that day, my office discussed security concerns with the Speaker. On November 8 the Speaker’s office informed my office that the application for accreditation by Mr Smale had been declined and that requests for comment be directed to the Speaker.
