Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter July to September 2024 on the action ‘We will provide for effective regulation of health and care services, products and devices to maintain and improve quality and safety’ under ‘priority area of focus 3: We will enable and support the ongoing improvement of health outcomes, quality and safety’ within ‘Developing the future Ministry of Health: Our strategy and strategic intentions 2022 - 2026’?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in the quarter July to September 2024, progress has been made through the further development of a quality management system for radiation safety. In September 2024, Cabinet agreed to a Medical Products Bill, which will provide modern, risk-proportionate regulation for medicines and medical devices.
