71514 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Does the Minister agree with Commerce Commission chair, Dr John Small, that the proposed merger of Foodstuffs North and South Island "would result in a permanent structural change to the New Zealand grocery industry"?

Hon Andrew Bayly: It would be inappropriate for me to comment on an issue which is evaluated independently by the Commerce Commission. However, I am satisfied that the analysis and decision taken by the Commerce Commission regarding the merger was well-evidenced and informed by a robust process.
