71511 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Does the Minister share the concern of the Commerce Commission Chair, Dr Small, who said that the proposed merger of Foodstuffs North and South Island "would lead to reduced investment and innovation by suppliers, meaning reduced consumer choice and/or quality of grocery products in New Zealand for consumers"?
Hon Andrew Bayly: It would be inappropriate for me comment on an issue which is evaluated independently by the Commerce Commission. However, I am satisfied that the analysis and decision taken by the Commission regarding the merger was well-evidenced and informed by a robust process.
