71478 (2024). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What measures are currently in place to ensure that shipping services in the Cook Strait, such as the Interislander Ferries, are safe in emergencies while we wait for a long-term solution to the emergency towing capacity?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that should any large vessels require towing in the Cook Strait, then commercially available vessels of opportunity will be used as they have been up to this date.
