71020 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to JUne 2024 toward the action ‘Invest in research for healthy futures for Māori’, under ‘Strategic Priority 1: Invest in excellent health research that addresses the health needs of all New Zealanders’ within the Ministry of Health’s New Zealand Health Research Strategy 2017 – 2027?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the quarter April to June 2024, Health New Zealand progressed projects within the Māori Health Pipeline programme. This is an implementation science research programme to inform translation and future investment on key interventions to address the life expectancy gap for Māori. I am further advised that during the quarter April to June 2024, the Health Research Council (HRC) 2024 Ngā Kanohi Kitea Community Advancement Fund applications were assessed. The HRC also awarded one Māori Health Programme and seven Māori Health Projects. I am also advised that during the quarter April to June 2024, the Ministry received the second round of submissions to its Research and Evaluation fund.
