69736 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does the Minister agree with consultant psychiatrist Professor Marie Bismark that psychiatrists were partly choosing locum work because it was free from onerous on-call night and weekend work, but even then there was competition with Australia; if so, what, if anything, will he do to address this?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised by Health New Zealand that they are focused on recruiting permanent staff to fill the current vacancies.
