69699 (2024). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Finance: Has she asked for, or received, any advice or estimates on the potential impacts of cancelling the iRex project on future ability to move certain types of freight between the North and South Island, the cost of moving freight by rail between the North and South Island, and/or the future viability of rail freight services in the South Island at any point in the past year, if so when and what advice was received?
Hon Nicola Willis: Advice I, and other Ministers, have received on the impacts different ship sizes and configurations have on moving freight across the Strait, including those impacts between rail enabled and Ro-Pax ferries is under active consideration by Ministers. Regarding questions about the titles of advice I have received from officials, I am advised that the Treasury publishes a monthly list of titles of advice to Ministers, by the middle of the month after the advice is provided. I refer the member to that list.
