69533 (2024). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: What progress, if any, has been made on amending the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004 to enable remote reparking of E-Scooters?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am aware the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has recently determined that any remote parking function on e-scooters must not be used, because the e-scooters would not fit within the E-Scooters (Declaration Not to be Motor Vehicles) Notice 2023 when being remotely operated. I have asked officials to consider issues relating to e-scooters through a review of the vehicle regulatory system.
