Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 toward the objective ‘Raise awareness of hepatitis C in New Zealand in the general population and priority populations’ under ‘Focus area 1: Awareness and understanding’ in the National Hepatitis C Action Plan?

Hon Casey Costello: I refer the Member to my response to Written Parliamentary Question 69405 (2024). I am also advised that during the quarter, Health New Zealand's regional hepatitis C services planned events to mark World Hepatitis Day in July. These events involved a range of providers including Hauora Māori providers, Pacific health providers, needle exchange services, and some pharmacies. In addition, Te Manawa Taki region offered hepatitis C testing and education at Field Days in June. The team completed 177 tests and provided 250 mini education sessions.
