Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 has been made toward the action ‘Increasing innovation and research’ under Focus area 1: ‘Surveillance, information and knowledge system actions’ as recommended in the National HIV Action Plan?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, funding continued for community-based providers to deliver innovative approaches to expand HIV and other sexually transmitted infection testing capabilities. I am further advised that during the quarter, ESR completed a review of innovative HIV testing methods, approaches, and settings to inform new options for testing. Service requirements were also developed with a range of subject matter experts.
