Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 has been made toward actioning ‘New and innovative technologies and service delivery methods’ under Focus area 2: Combination prevention and health promotion actions as recommended in the National HIV Action Plan?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, there was increased delivery of HIV testing using new technologies. These include a partnership with Grindr and the Burnett Foundation Aotearoa which enables free HIV self-test kits to be ordered directly from links embedded in the Grindr app as well as online. This has resulted in a significant increase in the quantity and quality of testing with higher client diversity and improvements in distribution networks.
