69387 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 has been made toward actioning ‘Workforce training, guidelines and resources’ under Focus area 2: Combination prevention and health promotion actions as recommended in the National HIV Action Plan?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, the New Zealand Sexual Health Society organised training to promote the updated clinical guidance for appropriate pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) prescribing in primary health care services. In partnership with the Burnett Foundation Aotearoa, around 280 primary care providers were trained to prescribe PrEP and PEP. Training was provided in 22 cities/towns in person and online in the six months to June 2024. The guidelines were also promoted at healthcare conferences.
