69377 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 has been made toward actioning ‘Anti-stigma and discrimination initiatives for the wider public’ under ‘Focus area 4: Support for people living with HIV, including stigma and discrimination actions’ as recommended in the National HIV Action Plan?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand progressed development of a social marketing campaign to address stigma and discrimination experienced by people living with HIV. A working group involving people with lived experience of HIV participated in a two-day workshop held in June to co-design the building blocks of the campaign as part of phase one. The group then agreed to lead community engagement with their wider networks commencing in July 2024. I am further advised this work will inform further cross-government action to reduce stigma and discrimination.
