69314 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Associate Minister of Housing: Does the Minister agree with Retirement Village Residents Association president Brian Peat that slow repayments on unsold units were a burden for residents and families and they should also be paid any capital gains made on the unit while it was occupied; if so, what, if anything, will she do to address this?
Hon Tama Potaka: I agree that issues around the timing of capital repayments are a priority area for the current review of the Retirement Villages Act. As such I have agreed to have officials provide me advice on options for incentivising or requiring earlier capital repayments when residents move out of a village.
