68164 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 to ‘Measure and publish consumer and whānau experience’ under section 1.1 ‘Valuing the voices of consumers and whanau’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that work on increasing the value of consumer and whānau voice was underway in the April to June 2024 quarter, with Health NZ establishing a Whānau Family Expert Advisory Group, which includes consumers, to build staff and consumer capability through a national feedback and engagement framework.
I am further advised that processes to drive improved consumer and whānau outcomes, using experience measures, were underway during the quarter, including development of a national quality and safety clinical indicators framework.
I am also advised that Heath NZ undertakes three national surveys: primary care, inpatients, and outpatients, primarily through its districts.
