Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the quarter April to June 2024 to implement the recommendation ‘Specifically explore the NZOA proposal and consider implementation’ as part of Te Whatu Ora Planned Care Taskforce Reset and Restore Plan?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand continued to work collaboratively with stakeholders such as NZOA on a range of initiatives. These include the design of the national hospital-based musculoskeletal pathway; establishment of orthopaedic training positions within private surgical hospital settings, and initiating work to improve the provision of acute theatre capacity to protect planned care delivery during periods of higher acute demand.
